Hostas grow well in moist soil that is rich in organic matter and will bring you pleasure year after year. Light shade is best. Do not plant them in clay, in the woods where they have to compete with other roots or in deep shade.
Impatiens are an annual that will bloom in the shade from spring through fall. They come in a variety of colors and can be grown in pots, window boxes, hanging baskets or borders.
